I'm back with NEW Listings!!
Just in case you've forgotten me, because I have been away from my blog for SO LONG...I will go ahead and reintroduce myself - Hi, my name is Brittney!
I just started grad school and the time I spend on my computer now consists of research papers and studying. I hate not blogging regularly.
Any who - the creating NEVER EVER EVER stops! I am a creative person so I'm definitely exercising the RIGHT side of my brain more than my LEFT (not good for grad school)!! So, research papers or not I've got sooooo many new ideas and I am still creating OFTEN. I'm working on getting them all listed, but here is my latest. Follow each link above the picture to find out more information. :)
If you've been following along you know I've grown up in the South, and you've probably figured out my love for the history, culture, and traditions of the South. Southern belles, "yes mam" and "no mam", my mom's sweet tea, college football games, the SAINTS, Sunday morning church, and spending the afternoon swinging on the back porch (in100 degree weather with 90% humidity)....Between the bright yellow, the vintage lace, and pearls I've been using you might get a little feeling of the South. These are all the things that inspire me to create.
ENJOY ♥

Jaded Earring: My New Favorite
I've added a few new items in the shop!!
I'm no weather woman but we're beginning to feel the heat down here. That's all I'm going to say about heat, because I promised myself (after this past "freezing" winter) that I wouldn't complain about the hot summer weather.
I do have to say these Jaded earrings are definitly a new favorite....The yellow jade beads remind me of a limeaide on a hot summer day!!! I always have to add a little vintage lace, because I just can't get enough of its delicacy....ENJOY ♥

Celebration: 50 Sales!
I HIT THE BIG 5-0 (in sales that is)!!
Wow! What an amazing experience its been since I've opened Charm Du Jour in January! I started to sell on Etsy simply to cover the costs of supplies I needed to keep this love of mine flowing out. It has turned out to be so much more than that!! I have become surrounded by the most encouraging and supportive people. The new friends I'm meeting, the positive feedback, and the 'thank you' emails I receive just light up my day! I had no idea it would turn out to be this way and I am so blessed with the outcome. I would have never expected to hit fifty sales four months in...I LOVE what I do, and I hope I can continue to please y'all well into the future! Friday, April 23, 2010
Paris Discovery: I'm a Lazy Dresser
My cousin, me, and some awesome friends went to Paris last summer. The flowers, the buildings, and the people were just beautiful! I don't remember where we were headed, but we got lost one day and ended up on the campus of some university. It was lunch time, and if you've been to Europe you know when it's lunch time because people IMMEDIATELY flock to the parks or fountains outside to picnic.

Anywho - The students were all picnicing outside for lunch and no joke every single one of them looked like they walked right out of an Urban Outfitters or Anthropologie magazine. They were all dressed to the nines, or to the hundreds for that matter.

I instantly realized what a LAZY dresser I am!! My college class wardrobe consisted of jeans, a t-shirt, sandals, a ponytail, and NO makeup. I was amazed at the effort the Perisians put into dressing. Now, If I'm running out of the house I'm always trying to think of quick fixes to try to escape this realm of LAZY DRESSING. My favorite quick fix? Statement necklaces. Here's my latest...

Southern Nanner Puddin'
I'm going to a crawfish boil today and I am in charge of desserts. Banana Pudding was my instant thought, but sadly I have to admit I've never made it before!! I've eaten plenty, just never made it.
I didn't have a recipie so I decided to cheat and use the recipie on the instant vanilla pudding box. To make it my own I added a little bit of sweetend condensed milk and whipped cream to the mixture. When the mixture was complete I took a swig with my finger. Yep, I like to have a little taste or two (I just hope my friends who will be at the boil today aren't reading). It was SOOOOOOO good and sweet I had to share....
What you'll need:
3 bananas (sliced)
1 can of sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
1 pkg instant vanilla pudding (6 oz)
2 1/2 cups of cold milk
1 carton of whipped cream (16 oz)
1 box of vanilla waffers
What you'll do:
Mix pudding with cold milk, and whisk for about 2 minutes. This wasn't in the package recipie, but I added condensed milk (it started getting really sweet, so I only added about half the can). Keep on whisking. Then I added about 3/4 of the whipped cream to the mixture. Whisk it in there real good, and let mixture sit. Whatever dish your using (e.g. a bowl or a casserole dish) start with a layer of the vanilla waffers at the bottom, then a layer of sliced bananas, and a layer of pudding mixture. Repeat layers until your mixture is gone. Top it off with the rest of your whipped cream and maybe some extra vanilla waffers to make it pretty. Refrigerate for about an hour before serving.
ENJOY ♥

Sweet Beginnings...
There is no doubt wedding season is upon us! Every single weekend this month we have a wedding to attend, and not to mention two more in May! Don't mistake this post as a complaint, because if you know me well you know that I love everything about a wedding. Whether you're my best friend getting married or my grandmother's sister's daughter's daughter who lives in Canada --I'm probably going to drop a tear or two at your wedding. Something about a couple beginning a whole new life together just brings so much joy to me!
Lately, I've been asked to do several custom pieces for brides. It's been fun working with and meeting different girls trying to design the right piece for each of their personalites. It's really the coolest feeling to know that something I put together will be a part of such a special day. ♥
